Install the controller

About 5 minUpdated 2026-10-28

The controller is gocdn's management plane. One is enough. This page covers the requirements, what the installer does, and a post-install check.

Requirements

  • Debian 13 / Ubuntu 26.04 or later, x86_64 or arm64, with systemd.
  • At least 4 GB RAM and 20 GB free under /var/lib.
  • Internet access; do not put it on the same machine as a node.
  • Run as root.

Install

After your trial starts or you purchase, the install command is emailed to you. Log in to the server and run the whole line:

t=$(mktemp) && curl -fsSL https://<provider>/i/•••••••• -o "$t" && bash "$t"

Use the command from your email

The command downloads the script to a temporary file and runs it only if the download succeeded, so a network failure makes the whole command fail instead of looking like a successful install.

Tip The command carries a one-time token, valid for 72 hours and usable once. If it has expired, ask your provider for a new one.

What the installer does

It installs dependencies (MariaDB, ClickHouse and so on), the controller program and its systemd units, creates the first administrator, starts the services, registers with the license service and runs a local health check. It can be re-run: finished steps are skipped and missing ones are filled in; the password, keys and administrator are never recreated.

After it finishes

The panel address is printed and the last line is MASTER_INSTALL_DONE <version>. The first administrator is admin, and the initial password is in /root/gocdn-admin.pass. Change the password after logging in, then delete the file.

Caution The controller address inside node install commands must be reachable from the nodes. If the controller is behind cloud NAT, or you opened the panel with a private address, first set the node communication address under System › Maintenance Operations, then get the node command; see Add nodes.

Check

  • The panel opens in a browser and you can log in.
  • System › System Upgrade shows the current version.
  • The license status in System Settings is normal; see Licenses and add-ons.

Next: Add nodes.
