Set up the CNAME record

About 5 minUpdated 2026-10-28

Once the site is added, visitors must reach a node first, so the domain's DNS record has to become a CNAME.

Find the CNAME target

The site's CNAME target is shown in the site details. How it is generated is decided by the administrator in "Set CNAME generation mode" (per plan or per site); when generated per plan, change it under Sold Packages.

Change DNS

At your DNS provider, change the site domain's record to a CNAME pointing to the target from the previous step:

www.example.com CNAME <CNAME target shown in the site details>
Caution By DNS rules a root domain (for example example.com) cannot hold a CNAME next to other records. Use a provider that supports CNAME flattening (ALIAS / ANAME), or use a subdomain such as www.

Check that it works

It can take from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the TTL of the old record. Check with:

dig +short www.example.com CNAME
curl -sI http://www.example.com/

If the CNAME points to the target above and the response headers show gocdn node information, the site is served through the CDN.

Tip Before switching, lower the old record's TTL (for example to 300 seconds) so you can switch back quickly if something goes wrong.

Next you can turn on HTTPS.
